So what exactly makes the Waterpik WP-950 Complete Care 7.0 Review so special?
Waterpik’s Complete Care systems are the ultimate all-in-one solution for dental health routine.
However, the thing about these systems is that there are no obvious differences between them.
Well the differences are very subtle, but it’s not really the differences that concern us, it’s the price.
If you compare the Complete Care 7.0 with the 9.0 version, you’ll discover that both products do almost the same thing. With the only difference being the higher price of 9.0 just because it’s the newer model.
We don’t want to give the impression that the Complete Care 7.0 is an outdated version. The difference between it and the 9.0 model is just a few short years.
So if you’re looking to improve your dental health and don’t mind settling for a slightly older unit, then you want to stick around. Here’s all the important details you’ll want to know in our Waterpik WP-950 Complete Care 7.0 Review.
What is included in the Complete Care 7.0 system?
Tired of your regular toothbrush and looking to upgrade to an electric brush and a water flosser. Well the Waterpik WP-950 Complete Care 7.0 package will provide great value for your money.
The 7.0 System package consists of the:
- Waterpik WP-950 Water Flosser,
- Waterpik SR-3000 Electric Toothbrush,
- 2 brush heads, and
- 5 different tip attachments for the flosser.
We’re well aware that you can probably get an electric toothbrush and a water flosser that offer a lot more features and better performance separately. But when you compare prices, you’ll figure out why the Complete Care System is the better deal.
Does that mean that the Complete Care System isn’t all that efficient after all? Not at all.
This is an awesome system that will help keep your teeth and gums healthy. But it does suffer from a few shortcomings that we’ll discuss in the next section.
So should you buy the Complete Care 7.0? Depends on your budget.
If you’re looking to save some money and get great results, then most definitely. If you don’t mind paying a little bit more, then by all means, go for a separate electric toothbrush and a more feature-rich flosser.
Waterpik WP-950 Complete Care 7.0 specifications and features
The whole system comes at an estimated weight of 2.45 pounds, which is probably around the same weight as the Complete Care 5.0. It’s a little bit heavy, but for good reason. The weight helps the unit sit firmly on your counter, preventing it from moving while you’re flossing.
The WP-950 Water Flosser has dimensions of 7.7 x 5.0 x 10.6 inch and it features a larger base than the 5.0 model. This can either make or break a deal. Because if you don’t that much space in your bathroom for the base, then you should go with the 5.0 or the 9.0 model instead.
Water reservior capacity
On the top of the flosser lies its 23-ounce water reservoir, which is pretty large compared to a lot of units on the market. As far as how long 23 ounces will last, you should expect a 1.5-minute flossing session at the highest pressure settings. Lower pressure settings will allow for a longer flossing session before needing to refill the reservoir.
Cleaning your Waterpick WP-950 system
The great thing about this unit is that it’s super easy to clean. This is also a dishwasher-safe unit for your convenience.
However, before you wash this flosser, make sure you remove the rubber valve found at the bottom. The purpose of this valve is to prevent water from leaking.
Waterpik WP-950 pressure settings
At the front of the water flosser, you’ll find two dials. The first is the on/off switch and the second is the pressure control dial. The WP-950 offers 10 different pressure settings. The lowest level, which is level 1, offers a 10-PSI pressure, while the highest one offers a pressure of 100 PSI.
A unit that features 10 pressure settings is great for people with sensitive gums, especially kids.
We’d strongly recommend starting at level 1 and then slowly increase the pressure until you find the most effective pressure level for you. Both dials are pretty straightforward and easy to use.
WP-950 handle design
The WP-950 features an ergonomic handle that fits very well into the contours of the hand. The handle is super easy to maneuver while flossing. Which seems to be a problem in a lot of units. A problem that makes getting to those hard-to-reach spots in your mouth seem impossible.
The handle has a pause slider that you can use to start or stop the water flow while flossing.
It also has an eject button that allows you to remove the tip attachment you’re using and replace it with another one. The tip attachments can be rotated 360 degrees for optimal flossing angles.
Waterpik tip attachements
Like we’ve already mentioned, the Waterpik WP-950 Complete Care 7.0 comes with 5 tip attachments. Having a variety of tip attachments to pick from is important for a few reasons.
First, you want to make sure that you have enough tips for everyone who’s going to use the flosser. And second, if you have some dental work done in your mouth, you’ll need more than just a classic tip.
This system comes with 2 Classic Jet Tips, which are standard flossing tip attachments that come with every Waterpik water flosser. These tips are ideal for general use and it’s advised to replace them every 6 months.
The unit is also accompanied by an Orthodontic Tip. This tip is designed for those who have dental work such as braces in their mouth. It has concentrated bristles that allow you to get rid of the food debris that’s stuck between your teeth and braces.
There’s also a Pik Pocket Tip that features a very pointy end that can easily be wedged into periodontal pockets for a deep flush. This will help erase the food debris and plaque that may be stuck inside.
Lastly, you get the Plaque Seeker Tip. As the name suggests, this tip is designed to completely rid you of plaque with its three tufts of thin bristles. You can use this tip for a more delicate clean of dental crowns, implants, retainers, and bridges.
System storage areas
There is a hinged storage area that you will find next to the flosser’s water tank. You can store all of the tip attachments and brush heads in that compartment.
Waterpik SR-3000 Sonic Electric Toothbrush
Now, let’s move on to the Sonic Toothbrush. The SR-3000 features two modes: low speed and high speed.
You can alternate between both modes by simply pressing a button. It’s important to understand that pressing that button once will turn on the machine, pressing it for a second time will switch between the speed modes.
The toothbrush has a built-in, 2-minute timer for you to pace your brushing. You’ll notice that the brush will vibrate every 30 seconds, which serves as an indicator that you need to start brushing another quadrant of your mouth.
The vibration is pretty gentle and feels nice on the gums.
Sonic toothbrush battery and brush heads
The SR-3000 features a built-in battery that can be recharged via an induction charger. You can also use the toothbrush in the shower since it has a waterproof construction.
You get a total of 4 brush heads with this unit: 2 regular brushes and 2 compact brushes.
There’s a battery indicator on the toothbrush that lets you know how much time left before you need to recharge the battery.
Additionally, the package includes a toothbrush travel case for you to take your toothbrush with you on your travels. A pretty neat bonus.
Waterpik WP-950 Complete Care 7.0 shortcomings
Like we’ve already established, the Complete Care 7.0 isn’t by any means perfect.
Some of the most convenient features that this system lacks is a timer and pacer. These functions help you ensure that you’ve flossed long enough for the session to be effective. Further, these functions help indicate when it’s time to switch from the bottom of your mouth to the top.
Another thing that makes this system fall short is its voltage compatibility. This unit only works on 120V AC/60Hz voltage.
You won’t encounter this problem if you live in North America. But if you’re from somewhere else, you have to buy this product from a retailer instead of ordering it from Amazon to ensure getting a product that’s compatible with your country’s voltage standards.
The third and final shortcoming of the Complete Care System is the warranty specifications. Any warranty that comes with any Waterpik product sold or used outside of North America is pretty much void as shipment outside of North America is prohibited by Waterpik.
This is by far the most discouraging aspect of buying Waterpik’s Complete Care System. So make sure you take this note into consideration before you purchase.
Waterpik Complete Care vs Aquarius
While both are highly effective products, there are a few differences between them that can be the reason why you’d pick one over the other. Let’s briefly go over these differences.
The first obvious difference between both products is that the Complete Care System consists of an electric toothbrush and a water flosser, while the Aquarius is only a water flosser.
As far as the features go, both units are pretty much the same except for subtle differences. One of the features that distinguish the Aquarius is its massage, which is designed for gum stimulation and improved circulation.
Both the Aquarius and Complete Care System have the same water capacity. Another thing that sets the Aquarius apart from the Complete Care is that it includes 7 tip attachments, while the Complete Care only comes with 5. However if you count the 2 Sonic brush heads that come with it, you get a total of 7 tips.
So which product should you buy? Well, both products pretty much offer the same value as far as flossing. The real question here is whether you’d like a Sonic toothbrush or not.
If you want an integrated dental care system, then the Complete Care 7.0 is your best choice. Another thing that this system has to offer is space-saving since you’ll have both the toothbrush and flosser in one unit.
Alternatively, if you don’t really need a toothbrush or if you have one already that you’re pretty satisfied with, then obviously the best choice is the Waterpik Aquarius. It pretty much has all of the same features that the Complete Care 7.0 has to offer.
Plus, you get to enjoy the massage mode with the Aquarius and 2 extra tip attachments for the flosser.
Alternatives: Waterpick Cordless Freedom Water Flosser
While both the Waterpick WP-950 Complete Care 7.0 and Aquarius are pretty impressive, they’re not the most portable options on the market. If you’re constantly on the move and you’re looking for a cordless water flosser that you can take with you anywhere, you should definitely check out the Waterpik Cordless Freedom Water Flosser.
Unlike the Complete Care and the Aquarius, this cordless water flosser functions on 3x AA batteries that will only need to be replaced every 1-2 months. Meaning that you don’t have to charge it or plug it into a power source. Simply put the included batteries in their place and turn the machine on.
The Waterpik Freedom features 2 pressure settings and it comes with 3 tip attachments: 2 Classic Jet Tips and 1 Orthodontic Tip.
Being a cordless water flosser, this unit has a reservoir capacity of 30 seconds. Lastly, it comes with a microfiber travel bag so that you can take it with you anywhere you go.
